Professor Colleen Graffy served in the US State Department as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy for Europe and Eurasia where she travelled to and worked with over 40 embassies and a team in Washington, DC to communicate U.S. policy, values and culture.She was the first high-level U.S. government official to actively advance “Public Diplomacy 2.0” using Twitter and other social media platforms to further U.S. communications and set up the first “media hub” for broadcasting (in Brussels) for the US Government, which is now replicated globally.
Professor Graffy is an Associate Professor of Law with Pepperdine University and was based in London, England for over 20 years as Director of their London Program and before that in Heidelberg, Germany. She has helped hundreds of students acclimate to a foreign culture and thrive including through internships and employment.
Professor Graffy is a Barrister and received her LLM from King’s College, London. She teaches a number of courses including Negotiation, Public Diplomacy, International Law, and International Environmental Law.
She is a frequent commentator in London on radio and television for the BBC, SKY TV, and others and has written op-eds for the Washington Post, Wall St. Journal and the Los Angeles Times.
