Daryl G. Pelc is the vice president of Engineering & Product Support for Boeing Defense, Space & Security’s Global Services & Support business. He serves as chief engineer of the GS&S business with responsibility for the development, deployment and program oversight of engineering and product support resources.
Ensuring alignment across all GS&S businesses by providing highly skilled people, processes, tools and functional discipline; his responsibilities include staffing programs; career development and training; application of best practices; deployment of common processes and tools; accelerating Lean+ improvements; and identifying synergies with Commercial Aviation Services in Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Starting with an internship in 1982, Mr. Mr. Pelc has more than 30 years of extensive engineering and management experience with Boeing. Prior to being appointed to his current position in 2014, Mr. Mr. Pelc served for six years as the vice president of Engineering & Technology for BDS’ Phantom Works business where he led the engineering execution of advanced technology development programs and also the strategic alignment of technology investments across BDS. Previously, Mr. Mr. Pelc was the chief engineer for Boeing Global Mobility Systems. From 2004 to 2006, he was the chief engineer of the C3 (Command, Control & Communications) Networks division and from 2001 to 2004, served as chief engineer of Boeing’s C-130 Avionics Modernization Program. In the 1990s, Mr. Pelc was director of the C-17 Globemaster III Avionics/Flight Controls/Support Equipment Integrated Product Team. Prior to that role, Mr. Pelc held positions of increasing responsibility in engineering on the F-15 and F/A-18 programs.
He is currently a member of the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) providing advice on matters of science and technology relating to the Air Force mission. Mr. Pelc is an active advocate of Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) programs and serves on the Board of Directors of the MIND Research Institute and Operation Jump Start. In addition, Mr. Pelc is the Boeing executive focal for the University of California-Irvine (UCI), where he is also on the Engineering Leadership Council of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering; a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board of the Paul Merage School of Business; a member of the Dean’s Circle of the Claire Trevor School of the Arts and a member of the UCI Donald Bren School of Information & Computer Sciences Dean’s Leadership Council. Mr. Pelc is also on the California State University-Long Beach School of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council and is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
A native of Belleville, Ill., Mr. Pelc holds a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
