Jason Weintraub leads the international corporate strategy and development function for Taco Bell Corp., the global Mexican-inspired restaurant chain with over $9 billion in system revenue and over 6,500 restaurants in 27 countries. In this role, Mr. Weintraub develops and implements global brand expansion strategies, including corporate and franchise unit development, acquisitions, and new market entry. Previously while at Taco Bell, Mr. Weintraub also served as an attorney, leading the law department’s transactional practice. In this capacity, Mr. Weintraub maintained responsibility for all corporate governance, compliance, and complex contract matters for Taco Bell.
Prior to joining Taco Bell, Mr. Weintraub served as Director of International Legal Affairs at Broadcom Corporation, a leading global communications semiconductor company and a member of the Fortune 500. Mr. Weintraub’s responsibilities at Broadcom focused on supporting the company’s international expansion, particularly in emerging markets. Specifically, his role included mergers & acquisitions, intellectual property strategy, international legal operations, corporate governance and regulatory compliance, and launching Broadcom’s international government relations function.
Mr. Weintraub also served as Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of DRI Companies, an international renewable energy products and services company. At DRI, Mr. Weintraub’s maintained responsibility for litigation management, complex commercial transactions, intellectual property rights risk management, compliance, government relations and directing DRI’s Human Resources function.
Mr. Weintraub is a frequently sought-after lecturer at continuing education seminars, speaking on such issues as international business expansion, international law, risk management, unfair competition law, and complex civil litigation. In 2012, Mr. Weintraub was honored as the “Rising Star” at the Orange County Business Journal’s General Counsel of the Year Awards. Mr. Weintraub received his Juris Doctor degree from Berkeley Law (Boalt Hall – University of California) and his undergraduate degree in political science from Stanford University.
