Sean Dunphy is the Vice President of Political Risk for AIG. In this role, Mr. Dunphy is responsible for Political Risk Insurance underwriting and marketing in the Western Region. Among others, this includes Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix, Denver, Portland and Seattle.
Mr. Dunphy joined AIG in 2004 from Aon Risk Services where he was Vice President, Political Risk. Based out of Chicago, he was responsible for brokerage services for the central region, managing a large portfolio of political risk insurance programs for several multinationals. Prior to that, he was Regional Underwriting Manager for the Specialty Products & Services unit of ACE USA (formerly Cigna International), also based in Chicago, where his underwriting authority included Sabotage and Terrorism, Kidnap & Ransom, Workplace Violence and Product Contamination/Recall.
Mr. Dunphy began his professional career in the military where he spent six years as a Naval Intelligence Officer. During this time, he was stationed in Panama, where the mission focused on counter-narcotics and Latin America. He was later assigned to the National Security Agency, from where he deployed to the Mediterranean, Southwest Asia (Desert Storm), the Caribbean, Africa, and the Balkans.
Mr. Dunphy earned his undergraduate degree in International Relations from the University of California, Davis; he earned his graduate degree, an MBA in Global Management, from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona.
