Tina Shih (BA [Political Science], Concordia University, 1998) worked in public affairs and communications having served in the Office of the Minister of Industry Canada, and as a Communications Advisor for Industry Canada prior to joining Global Affairs Canada.
In 2003, she began her career with the Department as a Trade Commissioner in the China and Mongolia Division. Since then, she has managed progressively more challenging portfolios in priority markets for Canada, both at Headquarters, as Investment Officer for the U.S. Commercial Division, and abroad, having served as Trade Commissioner in Shanghai and in San Francisco.
From 2013 to 2015, Ms. Shih served as First Secretary & Trade Commissioner at the High Commission of Canada in India. She was responsible for advancing bilateral Innovation, Science & Technology collaboration between Canada and India, as well as overseeing commercial and economic partnerships in the areas of aerospace & defence, sustainable technologies, life sciences and information and communication technology.
Currently, Ms. Shih serves as Consul & Trade Commissioner at the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles with a mandate to increase bilateral commercial partnerships and to attract foreign direct investment to Canada.
